FAQs
- How do I know if marriage counseling is right for us?
If you and your partner are experiencing frequent conflicts, struggling with communication, feeling disconnected, or facing challenges like infidelity or trust issues, marriage counseling can help. If you’re both willing to put in the effort to improve your relationship, counseling can provide the tools and guidance to rebuild and strengthen your bond. - What if we’re dealing with serious issues like infidelity or addiction?
At Mankato Marriage Solutions, we specialize in high-conflict issues such as infidelity, sexual intimacy challenges, and addiction. These are difficult but not impossible to overcome with the right approach. Our solution-focused counseling helps couples navigate these challenges, rebuild trust, and work toward healing and restoration. - What if my partner is hesitant to attend counseling?
It’s common for one partner to feel uncertain about counseling. We encourage an open conversation about the benefits of therapy and how it provides a safe, non-judgmental space to address concerns. If your partner is hesitant, consider attending an initial session on your own to explore how counseling can help. - How do we know you’re the right therapist for us?
Choosing the right therapist is an important decision, and we want you to feel confident in your choice. That’s why we offer a free and confidential 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your concerns, answer any questions, and determine if we’re the right fit for your needs. This conversation gives you the opportunity to understand our approach and see if our solution-focused counseling aligns with your goals. We’re committed to helping couples who are ready to work toward a stronger, healthier relationship. - How long does marriage counseling take?
The duration of counseling depends on the complexity of the issues and the level of commitment from both partners. Some couples see improvement in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from ongoing support over several months. Our goal is to provide practical solutions that help you see progress as efficiently as possible. - Are these sessions in-person or online?
Our preference is to provide in-person counseling, as face-to-face interaction fosters deeper connection and engagement in the therapeutic process. However, we understand that certain situations may make in-person sessions challenging. In cases where it is deemed in the best interest of the couple, we offer secure video sessions to ensure you still receive the support and guidance you need. Our goal is to provide effective care in the format that best serves your relationship. - Is marriage counseling only for couples on the brink of divorce?
No! Marriage counseling is beneficial for couples at any stage of their relationship, whether you’re looking to strengthen your connection, improve communication, or address specific challenges before they become major problems. Investing in your relationship now can prevent deeper issues in the future. - How much do these services cost?
